IAFF
(Internationial Association of Fire Fighters)

Notes:

The International Association of Fire Fighters, or IAFF, works to protect the safety and well-being of more than 290,000 professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel throughout the United States and Canada. Working on the federal, state, and local level, the IAFF helps to promote public awareness of fire safety and the dangers faced by members of the Fire Service.

Safety and education are also promoted within the Fire Service. IAFF members constantly work to improve their own health and safety through training and education.

Formed on February 28, 1918, the IAFF initially consisted of 24 Locals and protected 5,400 members. Today, it is made up of more than 3,000 Locals and includes more than 290,000 professional fire fighters.

The IAFF also maintains a memorial to its fallen members. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, the Fallen Firefighters Memorial honors those members who have given their lives in the line of duty.
