| Notes:
This plaque is dedicated to the memory of the only Weatherford Firefighter to die in the line of duty during the 20 century. The plaque reads:
[iaff maltese cross]
28 year-old Roy Pattillo was a 6 year veteran
of the Weatherford Fire Department when he
died while responding to a barn fire west of
Weatherford on the afternoon of March 5, 1936,
as the fire truck he was driving rolled over
three times, killing him instantly. Roy was the
only Weatherford Firefighter to die in the line
of duty during the 20th Century.
In the spring of 2003, the men and women of
the Weatherford Professional Firefighters
Associated dedicated this plaque in the honor
of their brother who sacrificed all in the
gallant pursuit to save life and property. May
he rest in peace...
"When thou passest through the waters,
I will be with thee.
And through the rivers,
They shall not overflow thee.
When thou walkest through the fire,
Thou shalt not be burned.
Neither shall the flames kindle upon thee."
- Isaiah 43:2
