This monument includes a black granite memorial wall engraved with the names of Missouri firefighters killed in the line of duty. There is a bronze statue atop the wall that depicts a firefighter kneeling in prayer.

The statue is actually a replica of the statue that was originally ordered. On the morning of September 11, 2001, the original statue that had been ordered for this monument happened to be travelling through New York City. The Missouri Fire Service offered that statue to the City of New York in honor of the 343 firefighters who died that day.

The original statue is located on the corner of 8th Ave and 41st St in New York City.
