About

FireMemorials.com first began in 2008 when the site's owner was doing research on a personal project about the history of the Fire Service. While doing research on the project he grew frustrated at how difficult it was to find information about a memorial he wanted to include in his presentation.

It was then the idea was born. He began doing countless hours of research and compiled information on more than 100 Fire Service related memorials and museums. Slowly, FireMemorials.com began to take shape as a website hosted on his personal web space.

Soon after, FireMemorials.com was registered as a domain name and the site when live. New entries were slowly added to the collection, all of the work being done in straight .html. All the while, the owner continued (and still continues today) working full-time as a Firefighter/Paramedic on a career department.

FireMemorials.com joined FaceBook where it quickly began to gain "fans." Some memorials and pictures were sent in by fans and visitors to the site. The workload continued to grow until it was decided to make the site more interactive for visitors.

In early 2012, the newest version of FireMemorials.com went live. Work is still under way, but visitors can already submit their own entries for consideration on the site. Soon, members who have registered will also be able to comment, rate, edit, and even upload pictures of memorials.

The site has also expanded to include books, events (that may or may not have physical memorials), and other pieces of Fire Service history.

The Fire Service is rich in history and tradition. It is the goal of FireMemorials.com to help preserve this history by allowing its members to help catalog the history in their department or city.

Feel free to browse through some of the entries featured on this page. If you would like add to our collection, we encourage you to register with us. It's free. It's easy. And it will help preserve the important history of our great service.
